Kim moved to Montana in 1992 with her family, raising her two children in the Billings Heights. While a Heights residents, Kim immediately took an active role in the Heights community, working with the schools, parks/recreation and Heights Task Force.
A few short years later, at the urging of her neighbors, she ran for and was elected in 1996 to the Montana State House to represent the west side of the Heights (formerly HD11). Kim went on to serve as the Heights State Senator until term limits in 2012.
During her 16 year legislative time, she became an expert in taxation, school funding, local government and health care issues. Kim has worked extensively in Health Care policy, Workforce and Economic Development at the local, state and national levels and for both private and public organizations.
In 2000, Kim purchased a cabin south of town and has made Red Lodge her permanent residence since 2013. Now retired, Kim can spend more time enjoying and exploring the outdoors, hiking and walking, accompanied by her gregarious labradoodle, Charlie.
